HOUSE PARTY. It’ll be more like old-school New York Cit loft parties, where Staycee and Herman Pearl began their careers. Now they’re based in Pittsburgh and celebrating their first year at their spacious PearlArts Studios. For only $60, start the evening at 8 with a pre-party VIP reception, signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and STAYCEE PEARL dance project performances included. Or you can just come at 10 for the dance party, spun by Herman himself, only $20. Make your reservation at:
SOCK-HAPPY. Only one more week to send your socks into Texture Contemporary Ballet to benefit the homeless. (They’re also open to other winter wear, i.e. gloves, hats and gently worn coats.) Give them to a company member or volunteer or drop it in the specially marked box at the New Hazlett. Pop the socks in the mail to Texture Contemporary Ballet at P.O. Box 1000176, Pittsburgh, PA 15233. If your donation is too big for those methods, Texture will schedule a pick-up. Email Marjorie at email@example.com. (Or send a check marked Socktober to Texture and they’ll shop for you!)
MORE LARRIMOR. Pittsburgh Dance Council celebrated its 2013-14 season, prior to Zimmerman & de Perrot, with a bash at Larrimor’s. There Richard Parsakian decorated the sleek corporate mannequins with neon bright wigs and the Re-52s band reigned supreme.
